internet down spider in the kitchen adobe still sucks

That is the message that I text to husband last night.

(Good thing he speaks Frog Queen)

You see, I was working in InDesign for a few days and just found out that the data import I wanted to do, was not going to happen the way I wanted it to.  I was going to have to do it the hard way.  Unhappy Frog Queen.

I was home working on Hauntcon stuff and the internet went down....damn, I am really behind, that sucks. Even unhappier Frog Queen.

So I think, I will go in the kitchen and make some food.

Opened the fridge and saw the strawberries, I will chop those for dessert.  Husband will be so happy.

So you can imagine my happy mood, thinking how there is no way to be in a bad mood while making dessert.

I was so very wrong.

Let me take a small detour here to say that unfortunately for you blog readers I have had very few spider incidents in the last 6 months.  I am happy, but the blog is less entertaining.  I should have known that could not last forever :)

Back to.....

While I am chopping, Dor had just manged to make her way into a very large box on the kitchen floor, only a few feet away from me.  She had be trying to get in the box all day and seemed very happy that she managed to jump high enough (finally) to land inside.

Happy Dor, everything was now right and good in her kitty world.

So there I was chopping strawberries, almost done and I grab one of the last ones and

OMFG!

A spider crawled across my fingers and onto the cutting board.

The neighbors a few blocks away had to hear the scream.

A now equally terrified Dor launches herself straight up and out of the box and managed to turn left, mid air and fly (literally) into the living room.

While the spider, likely as terrified, b-lines it for the safety of bowl on the other end of the counter.

I b-line (I might have flown too.....can't remember) it to the other side of the kitchen.

Mason and Hal peer, with looks of terror on their faces, around the corner to see what the hell is going on,  Mason attempts to walk toward me.

Hal looks at Mason as if to say "Listen buddy, I know that scream, that is the spider scream, it is best if you do not go anywhere near the crazy woman for a while, just saying."

Mason still looking at me is thinking "You are right, she does still have a knife in her hand, and it is clear her mind is gone.  Best ride this one out in another room.  Let's go find out what piece of furniture Dor has wedged herself under."

They both turn around and walk back into the living room. Shaking their head muttering "we go the short straw, with her.....I am sure there are owners out there, not near as crazy.  We sucked in our past lives."

I walk back over to and rescue the berries, drop the knife in the sink and head into the office.

Husband came home and looks for the spider.

Can't find it.

I am never going in the kitchen again.

I am so glad this is not true

No more foam texturing for the frog queen

I found these cool pink scrubber pads at Dollar Store.

The crew knows that I cannot touch anything pink without bursting into flames :D

So guess that counts me out of texturing!

I am soooooo smart :D

If we were sitting here having a glass of fantastic red wine.....

I would tell you.

I am done, I don't want to do this anymore.

Halloween.

This Halloween (commercial) thing.

I am done.

Done.

Done.

I have known that for a lot longer than I want to admit.

I have been fighting it, telling myself I can get a handle on this......as a stupid person would.

I am going back to my yard haunt (not really a haunt, technically, yeah, yeah, I know, I know.) and I do not care if the rest of the world does not care that we exist.........just making a yard, our own, that make us go.....damn!

I miss that.

Nothing I have done outside of that seems to make me anything........happy or money.

Besides....I hate politics....my own included. :D

I have not been as unhappy or stressed as I am "getting involved".

As ugly as it was, 12 years ago.

This used to be fun.

"fun, fun, fun" (in a sing-songy-voice)

I miss that.

The Chicken Channel

has been canceled on Cat TV. Due to the immediate and unexpected relocation of the star to Battle Ground, WA. We apologize for the inconvenience.

You cats may now go back to clawing the furniture and trying to trip your owners down the stairs.

-----------------------------------

There was a chicken in my yard for about two weeks. Actually I come to find out Jeff was right all along and it was a rooster.....yep, city girl all the way.

Jeff told me the story of the chicken in the yard and how the cats reacted. But I thought, actually I really thought "he needs to get out more" but also, right....there is a chicken in the yard....riiiiiight, a chicken....... Remind me to take you OUT to dinner when I get home.

"Don't let Hal out", I said.

"He won't catch the chicken" he says

"No, I know that, I don't want the chicken to hurt Hal."

"Oh, yeah"

There might have been a time Hal could wrangle a chicken, but now, I would put my money on the chicken.

----------------------------------

So, I am at home one day and watch all three cats race from the office to the potions/music room, falling over each other to get to the window.

WTF?

Before I can get up and find out what is going on....whooooosh!

Right past me to the garden window.

I did not think Hal could move that fast anymore, maybe I was wrong about the chicken wrangling.

Get to the window, and

can't see a thing but cat backside.

Lovely.

I open the door (not the smartest thing I have ever done) to look outside.

I was like a giant cat magnet came into being and pulled all three cats off the window and to the door.

Slam!

MEEEEOOOOW! (Oops, sorry about that Mason :)

Yep, it is a gray and white chicken strutting around the yard. Could care less that I walked out the door. Stared right at me, "Whoa, your huge!"

Big, brave chicken took a few steps toward me..... I look at him and think - yep, he would eat a cat and wonder hum, so what do cats taste like to chickens?

I look up to see three cats in the window staring at me as if to say

"Could you bring that in the house mom?"

I am vegetarian so you are all so S.O.L.

I get back in the house by 'punting' cats out of the way.

MEEEEOOOOW! (Oops, sorry (again) Mason :)

Well, I am done with that, but the cats are not.

They spend 15 minutes going from window to window watching the chicken walk around the yard.

Anything that keeps them from clawing the furniture is fine by me.

So, at any time of the day you could tell if the chicken was in the yard by the scurry of furry feet all over the house. And the occasional thunck, when one of them (likely Dorie) has a bit of a braking problem, and hits the glass. I know I shouldn't laugh, but it is funny! :)

Fun for them, distracting for me (and sometimes my friends - "Look there's a chicken!" - really, Dan, there is a chicken. Really? No way!)
-------------------
The other Saturday morning I heard a rooster crowing....thought to myself, what the heck is on the radio ?!?!? Went back to sleep - cause it was Saturday!!! (Hallelujah!)

Next thing I know, my neighbor and some guy with a net are in the yard, trying to catch the chicken.

"Is that your chicken?" I ask Mabel?

"Well, it's a rooster actually (big smile from husband that tells me I am so going to get the "told you so" lecture!), it has been in my yard for about 6 weeks, so I guess it is now. But I don't want it so I asked a friend from Battle Ground if he wanted it."

Hence the stranger with the net.

(Well, we might want to consult those three fuzzy things with their faces pressed to the window - you are taking their entertainment :)

I imagine it was some consolation to the cats; I mean watching four adults chase a chicken around our yard was probably quite entertaining.

So, the rooster is now in Battle Ground, I imagine, waiting to be someones dinner.
So, The Chicken/Rooster Channel is off the air

back to Squirrel in the Bird Feeder Channel on Cat TV

I feel bad, maybe I should get them a fish tank.

Note - this is a repost from my blog circa 2008 - not my first post, but blogger seems to think so. Thought it was worth sharing again.
