Things the Frog Queen does not need to know - Part 1

That there is actually a spider called a Pumpkin Spider. (Thanks to frothie51 at Percy The Black Cat blog for the link with the pictures....I think it is thanks I am feeling...could be...)

Right now, all I am thinking is that I hope these are named after their shape and color, it would be tragic if they are named "pumpkin" spiders because they are common in pumpkin patches.

Because if the latter be the case, then the frog queen has seen her last pumpkin patch :D

  1. Oooh thanks for the mention!! You made my day. Guess I'd better keep up my blog with my first real mention. :)

As for the spiders, prepare to thank me more...I think...is this a family blog? If it is then let me just bite my knuckle and scream....look at the fangs on this THING....and WHY is the crazy man using a brush to poke the worlds deadliest spider???WHY???

    Oh the insanity...

  2. You are welcome....and poking any spider with a stick is just beyond crazy!!!

I really want to visit Australia and New Zeland....but the spider stories keep moving them to the bottom of the list. :D

    Cheers!

  3. It is kind of cute in a strange way. I always like spiders. This one does look like a pumpkin.

  5. This kind of spider is also called a 'marbled spider', and the ones that we get around here in the late Summer and Fall are gorgeous. They have all the Fall colors in (on) them... and on Hallowe'en day last year, one dangled down out of the tree above me as I was putting up my Great Pumpkin animatronic figure -- she stopped right in front of my nose! My 4 yr old granddaughter (who's seen a few pumpkin spiders before) said 'Pa, she's saying Happy Hallowe'en!' I held out my hand and the little orange beauty landed right in my palm looking at me, I swear, not even moving.
I set her on the Great Pumpkin's shoulder, and she crawled somewhere into his robes.
    I felt honored!

  9. Mike - that is one of the coolest yard set up stories ever! I agree, I would be honored too....that is after I gain consciousness :D

It is actually quite a beautiful spider, I mean as far as spiders go...and especially in pictures and not hanging in front of my face. :)

Yes, I am a wus and I am fine with that :)

    Cheers!
