is because Marc is my friend. Not only is he a friend, but I am a huge fan of his writing.....he makes me laugh out loud, his books are treasures. He is a gifted writer with a fantastic sense of humor. Every Christmas I have him sign a stack of his first two books to give to friends. Trust me, if I know you for long enough....you will own a signed copy of How I Paid for College and Attack of the Theater People.
They (he and Floyd - who I mentioned in this blog post a while back when they sang back up vocals on Storm Large's "My Vagina is Eight Miles Wide video from her musical.) recently moved to New York - I miss them.
Again, FQ, where are we going with this?
One of his plays "Birds of a Feather" (which I saw in working draft mode a few years ago) is having its first real production at the Hub theater in Fairfax, Virginia.
Here is the breakdown:
This comedy tells the true story of the gay penguins who tried to hatch a rock in the Central Park Zoo, the pair of hawks who threw bones and gristle out off a Fifth Avenue co-op, and the birdbrained human behavior they all inspired. Birds of a Feather was workshopped at Portland Center Stage's JAW Playwright's Festival and will receive its world premiere in July, 2011 at the Hub Theatre in Fairfax, Virginia, one of the counties that protested And Tango Makes Three, the children's book about the penguins that is one of the most banned books in the U.S.
I saw it in draft mode and it was so special I can only imagine the final version is amazing. If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and check it out!
Okay - enough about my friends. Just want to wish him well and hope the production is a big success!!
Back to prop building everyone!!!
