cathedral cemetery pictures. I will keep it short this time and just ask you.....have you ever seen anything so amazing? Can you see why I just love this place? :)
Just amazingly gorgeous pictures, thank you for the inspiration.... coloring, shape, textures, I could stare at them for hours. (And what a beautiful place, I have really enjoyed seeing the pictures, wish I could go there someday)
I have to get back to my home town East Brunswick soon, and take a picture. Our family graveyard is not exceptional.... except that the first tombstone, and the biggest is for the family "Dracula" Yes, that is the actual name... I must take a picture and send it to you!!! My family says they were "very nice" people! (though I did notice a slight shudder when they said that!)I'll be going back there in May when I pick up the boy!
...and we're gonna get..... no life during the summer. :) (We are almost done with the Chapel, in fact, if all goes well, most of it goes up tonight. But I have not been documenting it here. So I am going to retrospectively show you through the chapel build.) After a few years of planning, we finally decided to sell the abbey and build a chapel. The plan is that this will be easier to put together than the abbey has been. The abbey took an entire weekend, a scissor lift and an army of people to set up. This new chapel should go up in a few hours. This is the SketchUp plan. Front view from SketchUP Here is the real chapel that we modeled it after. Ardgowan Chapel in Scotland Yeah, we decided to phone it in this year :D
For anyone that has ever wondered about all the cool accents on the Davis Graveyard tombstones here is the skinny. I kinda cheat. :) My brother has a business that makes decorative accents for homes and commercial buildings. He has given my boxes of them and I have access to the moulds and a two part expanding foam if I want to make more. Sometimes, if I am really lucky, like this weekend, my brother brings me over some really cool piece like the ones you see it this box. They are from a shipment that was damaged, so he gave them to me. Yippee!! I put part of one on the base for the nuangel . I added a small skull in the middle that I forgot to take a picture of that makes this look even cooler. So, to help my karma, I am going to offer up a small box of (resin) decorative accents to one blogger. Just comment on this post and you will be entered to win - I will draw a winner on Monday, September 21. I will try to fit one of these in the box - but it might be in pieces, but you can ea...
Harold the Gravedigger squinted through the pre-dawn mist. A low, guttural groan echoed through the Davis Graveyard, sending a shiver down his spine. Not the usual mournful sighs of the restless dead, no. This was a sound more…sugary. More…sprinkled. Harold gripped his shovel tighter. The rumors had begun a week ago – whispers of a giant, sentient donut rolling through the cemetery at night, leaving a trail of sticky frosting and disembodied sprinkles in its wake. Tonight, he'd finally catch the culprit red-handed (or, should he say, red-glazed?). As the groan grew louder, a monstrous shape lumbered out of the fog. It was a donut, alright, but colossal. Its glazed surface shimmered under the moonlight, studded with malevolent chocolate chips and a single, menacing gumball eye. A chorus of disembodied moans rose from the disturbed graves as the donut flattened several headstones with an indifferent squish. Harold, adrenaline coursing through him, charged. "Hey, sprinkle-brained...
