a fairly steep hill towards the river behind Dairsie Castle and make your way through the undergrowth you will be be happy to discover these ruins. It appears that long ago there must have been a house below the castle. Not much left, but an awesome find the just same....I had to resist the temptation to take a piece of the rock wall home with me :D
One of the coolest discoveries on the trip!

OMG...I used to do that (collecting rocks)! when we lived in Europe (@ 8+ years), I used to pick up a rock from every castle ruin we went to (from Scotland, Germany and beyond!) I labeled them and they came home with me....now that they're here, I wonder what in the world I ever did that for. still, here they be...
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun to find old ruins? You can feel the energies of what once was.
ReplyDeleteI've collected a rock from every trip that we've been on, and now they are dotted throughout my garden. They've found a happy home where they are honored and appreciated, and I have happy reminders of journies past when I mingling with my plants.
Start saving those special ones! You won't be sorry that you did!
I too will often gather a rock or small item from a site that I visit when I am photographing abandoned old places. My last trip revealed a shard of a destroyed bowling ball of all things. It is odd how these things can literally call out to you in a sea of debris...
