House cleaning

I collect stuff during Halloween....cause I have a problem, I love the stuff, no matter how cheesy :)

So here is my final Halloween prize pack giveaway....think of it as my Christmas present to you.

I have a whole bunch of stuff here...including the pumpkin cat costume that was worn by "Hal" the famous Davis Graveyard mascot....he told me I have to get rid of it or die....I figured the hat was not worth it.

I will put this all in priority mail box and send it out on Friday....with any luck you will get it the day before Christmas....if not....well, it is a good after Christmas present.

There is pancake mix and cookies, and mirror stickers black and black gloves with orange stitching and scrubber and a backpack with skulls and one of my Etsy hairclips on it and I have thrown in a few frog items....because I am the frog queen.

Just put a comment on this post before midnight on Thursday, December 21, and I will draw a winner on Friday am.

And because I am in marketing and I have a great tendency for evil....I will give you and extra entry for posting on Facebook  twitter or your blog about my Etsy store sale.  Yeah, I am quite aware how low that is.....and I am evil, as you know, so you have to understand, that I am fine with that.

BTW- I am only shipping this box in the continental U.S. ...sorry, I am unemployed at the moment...do I am only committing to a fixed amount of shipping.

Sorry, this does not mean I do not love all you friends....

Good luck to one of you cool Halloween people!

I made 34 spiders

That is not something that you would normally expect me to say.

I was just as surprised as you.

Each Christmas I make a special card for my closest and coolest friends.  I have made decorated Christmas trees, fairies, gift boxes, books.....but this year I made spiders to go with this Christmas story:

A long, long time ago, a gentle mother was busily cleaning the house for Christmas Day. Not a speck of dust was left anywhere. Even the little spiders had been banished from their cozy corner high up on the ceiling. To avoid the housewife's busy cleaning, they finally fled to the farthest corner of the forgotten attic.

Finally, it was Christmas Eve. The tree was decorated and the children delighted. But the poor spiders were frantic, for they could not see the tree, nor be present for the magic of the season. The oldest and wisest spider suggested that perhaps they could wait until everyone had gone to bed and then sneak through the crack in the door to see the wonders of the tree. The little spiders silently   and carefully came down out of their attic corner and across the floor to wait in the crack on the threshold.

When all was quiet, so the spiders quickly crept into the room. The tree towered so high that they couldn't see the ornaments on top. In fact, the little spiders' eyes were so small that they could only see one ornament at a time. They all scurried up the trunk, out along each branch, filled with a happy wonder at the glittering beauty. The spiders loved the Christmas tree. All night long, they danced in the branches, and every place they went left a trail of dusty, gray web. When at last they had inspected every bit of the Christmas tree, it was shrouded in the dusty gray of spider webs.

Santa smiled as he thought of the happy spiders seeing the tree and how much they liked it, but he also thought of how sad the little mother would be over the dusty tree. He reached out his hand -- and just then the sun came through the window and touched the tree. All the webs started to sparkle and shine turning into shimmering, sparkling silver and gold. The tree glistened in greater beauty than ever before!

According to legend, ever since this happened, people have hung tinsel on their Christmas trees.

I left these up

My sister in law gave me some fake vines.....I painted them black and put them in on of my perennial pots....they are going to stay there until spring.  I am happy.  Wonder what they would look like if I left them there through the spring and planted sweet peas over the top of them :D

And of course the skull that is in a pot by the walk way to the front door is there all year....the pumpkin will stay as long as it can survive.....come on pumpkin.

Yes, this is what passes for "normal" at the Davis house :)

I know it is obvious

That all the Halloween decorations are down by now.....but just in case you were wondering....here is what the yard looked like after take down.....it is still weird to have a normal looking house :D

We won!

We got one of the second prize slots in the 2012 Instructables photo contest!!!  We put out a photo tutorial of how we made the grieving angel.

Woohoo!!

Scariest art installation ever!

In 2010, a Viennese and Croatian designers spun this jaw-dropping installation at a German design fair: Enormous spider-webs made entirely from packing tape. And lots of it: 117,000 feet and 100 pounds of tape went into making these “huge, self-supporting cocoons that visitors could climb inside and explore.”

Not sorry that I missed this one....I would likely have nightmares!

Best birthday present ever!

The frogs just keep on coming

My mom gave me this collection....one of them is a frog "mascot" from Fed Ex....I think I might have found my new favorite shipper!

Cheers!

Take a small break from Halloween

to say happy anniversary (29 years) to my cute husband!

I rarely win a battle against Hal

...to be honest all our cats get away with murder.  Actually Hal has gotten away with a lot of murder recently as you may have read.

Halloween afternoon things changed.

Hal really wanted outside like he has want to do, and we let him go, he is a stray from the neighborhood, it is hard to keep him in.

So when he ran past me on Halloween to get outside, I think he was quite surprised that almost immediately Husband and I tracked him (tricked) him back in the house.

He was not happy.

"What the ^%$# is this?" he said.  "I mean you named me after this holiday, the props belong to me....let me the hell out of this house.....there are people with cameras coming....I must be in the photos!!!"

At least that I am pretty sure that was what all the crying and attempt to claw my face off meant.

I could sit there and explain to him that Halloween is not the best day for cats, and especially mostly black cats, and not all our neighbors are crazy about our yard and have been a bit open about it, not saying that anyone would do anything - but I rather be safe than sorry.

But, since he is a cat and no matter how I try, I have not gotten him to understand or speak English - rather than the lecture......I gave him extra gushy food.  Which distracted him while I opened the door to head back outside to set up the effects.

He was not as happy....but he was safe.  That means husband and I were happy.

I was thinking ahead, Marci came over to take pictures of the yard today - it would not be a Davis Graveyard photo shoot without Hal pictures.

I am Hal and I am a prisoner in my own home....someone please come rescue me....or bring me caviar.

Sorting out Candy Politics

I wish this would have been around when I was a kid....with four of us, this information would have saved a lot of screaming and blood shed.

No that I might have some free time

This looks like a lot of fun to make.  Check out this link for more details.

Halloween and Hobbits

how could it get any better!

It is not the Davis Graveyard

I finally got to see the documentary The American Scream, which we have been looking forward to - we have met most of the haunters featured and love their work.

We were also mentioned in the film.

Sadly - they showed our name with someone else's video footage.

What you see in the show is NOT the Davis Graveyard - it is some other haunt.

We want to apologize to that haunter - we do not know who it is, but trust us, we did not know about this.  We did not want to take credit for something that is not ours.

We will contact the filmmaker, but I am sure there is nothing they can do at this point.

If anyone knows the haunt that was featured. please tell them sorry for us - and it looks like a great haunt.

Anyone that has seen the Davis Graveyard will immediately know that that is not our work - I am  a bit disappointed that our name is now attached to that type of haunt - great as it is - it is not our style.  Not even close.

Oh well, life goes on.

Happy Halloween everyone.

I could not agree more!!

Is this the coolest thing ever

or what?

OMG!  Just wow!!

"No" means

"NOOOOO....cut the other line....for the love of all that is good in the world!!! Do not cut here!!!"

When we are marking panels with grout or cut lines....we do it right EVERY time....we never *&^% up and need to clearly mark the area NOT to cut.

Basically that says....I screwed up/changed my mind....cut the other line.

Which usually works, but not always, I have been know to cut the wrong line...more times than I would like to admit.

Just incase you thought that the Davis Graveyard was all perfect and magical....trust me my friends....we make a LOT of mistakes...some of them over and over again.

Happy Haunting!
