Happy National Donut Day from the Davis Graveyard
Harold the Gravedigger squinted through the pre-dawn mist. A low, guttural groan echoed through the Davis Graveyard, sending a shiver down his spine. Not the usual mournful sighs of the restless dead, no. This was a sound more…sugary. More…sprinkled. Harold gripped his shovel tighter. The rumors had begun a week ago – whispers of a giant, sentient donut rolling through the cemetery at night, leaving a trail of sticky frosting and disembodied sprinkles in its wake. Tonight, he'd finally catch the culprit red-handed (or, should he say, red-glazed?). As the groan grew louder, a monstrous shape lumbered out of the fog. It was a donut, alright, but colossal. Its glazed surface shimmered under the moonlight, studded with malevolent chocolate chips and a single, menacing gumball eye. A chorus of disembodied moans rose from the disturbed graves as the donut flattened several headstones with an indifferent squish. Harold, adrenaline coursing through him, charged. Perfect! I've been hitting there every few days just waiting for them to get stuff on the floor. Thanks for the update!
ReplyDeleteI saw one that had some really cool center piece things. A cheap (much) version of those Martha Stewart flat candle holder centerpieces.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
I used to work at my town's Dollar tree and we would get Halloween stuff about right now. I currently work at Home Goods and I suspect our Halloween merchandise will be coming either later this week or next week.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm working on some papier mache Halloween decorations. I want to sell them on Etsy. And I'n trying to find a way to make a banner for my shop, but it's hard finding a way to make one for a Mac user.
Lucky you! It's September before you see anything seasonal over here. Bah!
ReplyDeleteHere they have small Christmas aisles open in shops. Not quite as exciting (and way too early). But the leaves on the trees are already changing colours, as I said on my blog.
ReplyDeleteHey Hey Hey.....lots of reports today of new Halloweeny things in the stores. Pottery Barn Kids, Bath & Body Works and the Dollar Store. You gotta love seeing those Jack O'lanterns on the sides of the boxes. You just KNOW there are good things inside. A year or two ago I literally stalked the stocking clerk at Target because I saw him unloading the first Halloween boxes. I just couldn't control myself, until I finally just offered to help him so we could speed things along...ha! Crazy Halloween Nutters!
ReplyDeleteI love this time of year!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that a wonderful sight?
ReplyDeleteCool! Unfortunately, i will have to wait to september before seeing Halloween goodies in any store in my city.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check to see if our Dollar Tree as any Halloween goodies yet.
