Christmas in July

I finally finished husbands Christmas present this weekend! It was mostly done when I gave it to him Christmas morning, just needed about 20 coats of varnish and some eyes (not real ones...although that would be creepy) put it and the hanger attached to the shop.

This hangs above the light on the corner of the shop by the patio. It is hand painted on both sides.

I am not giving up my day job.....cause you can obviously tell that hand painting lettering is not my thing........okay, so I can't paint lettering straight to save my life. But Husband likes it (cause he loves me)....just goes to show how much of a great guy he is.

I wonder how long I can live with it before I yank it down and try to repaint the lettering again :D

  1. The lettering is fine! It makes the sign look authentically old, like it was done before computers and automation took over sign painting. Love the flying skull!

  3. Love it!!! I agree with Debra, the lettering makes it look aged instead of mass produced.

BTW... I sooooo very much suck at lettering too.

  6. OOO! Nice signage. But wait, if it's Christmas in July what happened to Halloween in May? I feel so jipped.

  7. I think it's wonderful! I'm sure Jeff had a big smile on his face when he put it up.
I wish I could make something like that for my place.

  8. The lettering is perfectly spooky, it goes exactly with the vibe of props that are coming out of the shop it represents. I'm jealous, I should leaves this open on my computer till my wife see's it!

  9. Best Christmas present EVER! I love it and wouldn't change a thing. Much better than my original idea of a metal sign that said Jeff Davis Workshop.
